Andrea Cohen
Paris-based sound artist and radio author/producer Andrea Cohen was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and was classically trained at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Musique in Paris. In 2005 she received a doctorate at the University Paris-Sorbonne for her thesis, Composers and Radio Art.
Cohen has created and performed in several pieces of experimental music theater and developed educational media for school and university-level students. In 2000, she initiated the SoundSon Project with US-based sound artist and composer Wiska Radkiewicz, and together they co-direct this web-based approach to audio sharing and collaborative composition. Based on principles developed in the SoundSon environment, composers and students from around the world are able to engage in an ongoing exchange of sounds from which a common composition can be created. A series of works created in this way by Cohen, Radkiewicz, and their collaborators have been aired, performed, and published internationally by Radio France, NAISA (New Adventures in Sound Art (Toronto), and the 2014 Invisible Places conference (Portugal), among others.

EXHIBITION: Of Other Faces
September 18, 2014 - October 25, 2014Of other faces is a group exhibition featuring five artists whose works employ strategies of mirroring and doubling to investigate the paradoxical nature of our dualistic world. Through the representation or evocation of reflections, echoes, or iterations, the photographs, sounds, and videos of Andrea Cohen and Wiska Radkiewicz, Victoria Fu, Marta Ryczko, and Manuel Saiz interrogate, express, or reveal hidden contradictions within contemporary social systems as they relate to dualities of self and Other.
