Yan Wu
Yan Wu is a curator and translator based in Toronto. Wu completed Master of Visual Studies Curatorial Studies at the University of Toronto and Bachelor of Computing at the University of Guelph. Currently she is the Curator-in-Residence (2016-17) at the Art Museum at the University of Toronto and the Public Art Coordinator at the City of Markham. Her research focuses on the interplay of contemporary art, architecture and urbanism.
She has worked with Canadian arts institutions including Gendai Gallery, Art Metropole, Blackwood Gallery, Gallery 101, Modern Fuel, and more. Her 2012 project “Gendai Workstation”received a special jury award at the 25th Images Festival. In 2013, she co-curated the Canada Pavilion with Janine Marchessault at the 5th Bi-city Urbanism/Architecture Bienalle in Shenzhen China, and was the Assistant Curator of the 2015 Shanghai Urban Space Art Season. As a translator, she completed the Chinese translation of Rosalind Krauss’s Passages in Modern Sculpture with James Carl, published in 2016. At present, they are working on the Chinese translation of Dan Graham’s Rock my Religion.
