Silver Press
Silver Press is an independent publisher founded in 2017. It began by publishing classic works from feminist perspectives, including books by Audre Lorde, Leonora Carrington, Diane di Prima and Ursula K Le Guin. In 2024, Silver Press launched a new imprint, Spiral House: a home within a home for art, poetry, transformation and ways of knowing, which includes the Portals series of pocket-sized entrances to expansive bodies of thought. As an expanding universe of many worlds and communities, Silver’s imaginative editorial and curatorial programme consists of wormholes for connections and engagements, rather than a fixed canon.
Across the Silver and Spiral House constellation of texts, ideas and dialogues, highlights include: a sonic programme of books, events, gatherings, and activations, with Bodies of Sound: Becoming a Feminist Ear, edited by Irene Revell and Sarah Shin, Quantum Listening by Pauline Oliveros and The Gender of Sound by Anne Carson; The Word for World: The Maps of Ursula K Le Guin book and exhibition at the Architectural Association, joining Le Guin’s writings on gender and feminism in Space Crone, her writing manual Steering the Craft and her final book of poetry So Far So Good; and a nascent enquiry into cosmic speculation and consciousness with Quantum Dreaming by IONE, Total Eclipse by Annie Dillard and The Cosmic Oval by Ella Finer. Forthcoming titles include Trans Central Station by Rachel Pollack, science fiction author and bestselling tarotist, and Angst by Hélène Cixous, the legendary feminist writer who coined the term ‘écriture féminine’.
