Mirae Lee

미래; mirae lee is an emerging cultural producer and sociocultural anthropologist, and a freelance illustrator and community arts organizer currently based in Tkaronto/Toronto. She is also the Community Director at Project 40 Collective.

Her practice is strongly rooted in her ongoing negotiation with her hyphenated identity and connection towards Korean, Japanese, and Canadian cultures; as well as her positionality on the land she resides and those she shares it with. She is passionate about supporting and creating spaces for under-recognized voices in the local arts scene.

Her main mode of creative expression is visual mixed media and bilingual prose. She is currently exploring lived experiences of female Korean diasporic communit(ies) in Canada; and discourse of “multiculturalism” and “feminism” through and within Korean mass media phenomena.

Her hobbies include spending unnecessary amount of time exploring alternative, independent, local artists in the Korean music scene, and writing about them here.
