November 29, 2025 - November 29, 2025

SPECIAL EVENT: Sat Nov 29 from 11am til the bagels are gone! Please RSVP here.

Join us for a casual meet-and-greet with Dena Davida, co-founder and Managing Editor of TURBA Journal for Global Practices in Live Arts Curation, the first journal for the study, theory, and praxis of curatorial strategies in the live arts. These include, but are not limited to, dance, music, sound art, theatre, performance art, verbal arts, circus arts, live media arts and inter-arts performance works. TURBA aims to create a platform for a community of discourse in the exploration of ideas, concepts, constraints, expectations, and contingencies which guide and drive curatorial practices in these fields. TURBA seeks to connect, amplify, and contextualize movements and voices as a seismographic observatory for the impact of live arts on societies and cultures around the globe.

Dena Davida is an elder dance scholar, artivist, ethnographer, educator, curator, performer, contact improvisor, LMA, writer, editor. Since 1977 she has been based in Montréal where she co-founded and curated the Tangente dance presenting space (1980-2021) and the Festival international de la nouvelle danse (1985-2001). She taught dance composition improvisation and theory in the Dance Department at the Université du Québec à Montréal (1979-2019), completed doctoral studies in dance ethnography at UQAM (2006), and has published writing and edited anthologies on dance, culture and curation.

TURBA is the first journal for the study, theory, and praxis of curatorial strategies in the live arts. These include, but are not limited to, dance, music, sound art, theatre, performance art, verbal arts, circus arts, live media arts and inter-arts performance works. With this journal, we aim to create a platform for a community of discourse in the exploration of ideas, concepts, constraints, expectations, and contingencies which guide and drive curatorial practices in these fields. We seek to connect, amplify, and contextualize movements and voices, thus making TURBA a seismographic observatory for the impact of live arts on societies and cultures around the globe.

Dancemakers considers the context of how dance is presented. We support independent dance Curators through innovative and customized presentation opportunities. By providing flexible and adaptable platforms, various dance practices can be shared with diverse audiences.
