As part of our ongoing Curatorial Considerations series, Critical Distance brought together artists and curators at Artscape Youngplace for a conversation circle centered on the practice of studio visits—how we approach them with criticality, care, and curiosity.

Artists Lyla Rye, Matthew Schofield, Midi Onodera, Gillian Iles, and Emily Cook generously opened their studios and contributed valuable insights drawn from their diverse practices and experiences. Their perspectives helped shape a dynamic afternoon of dialogue, reflection, and shared learning.

The event unfolded through collective conversation, guided readings, and intimate studio visits that fostered reciprocal connection and deeper engagement with the nuances of curatorial and artistic exchange.
